Telemundo Deportes, the exclusive Spanish-language home of the FIFA World Cup, moves its Road to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 into high gear presenting the most extensive Spanish-language multimedia coverage ever of the Final Round of CONCACAF FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. The Octagonal kicks off this Thursday with three match windows continuing Sunday, September 5 and wrapping up Monday, September 8. Telemundo Deportes will present live coverage of 11 matches across Telemundo, Universo, TelemundoDeportes.com and the Telemundo Deportes app.

Live coverage kicks off Thursday, September 2 at 7:30 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT live on Universo, with a pre-game special, followed by a double header with Canada taking on Honduras and El Salvador vs. USA. In addition, Panama vs. Costa Rica will live stream on TelemundoDeportes.com and the Telemundo Deportes app at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT.
Sunday’s action will be highlighted by Mexico taking on Costa Rica with coverage beginning at 6 p.m. ET / 3 p.m. PT, simulcast live on Telemundo and Universo. TelemundoDeportes.com and the Telemundo Deportes app will live stream Jamaica vs. Panama and El Salvador vs. Honduras at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.
Wednesday, September 8 wraps up the first round of matches with coverage beginning with a pre-game special at 8 p.m. ET followed by Mexico visiting Panama, all simulcast on Telemundo and Universo. In addition, Honduras receives USA at 10 p.m. ET live on Universo, and Telemudo Deportes’ digital platforms will live stream Canada vs. El Salvador at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT, followed by Costa Rica vs. Jamaica at 9 p.m ET / 6 p.m. PT.
Telemundo Deportes’ team of commentators will lead the coverage, including six-time Emmy-Award winning play-by-play commentator Andres Cantor, former Mexican National Team stars Carlos Hermosillo and Manuel Sol, and experts Copán Alvarez, Sammy Sadovnik and Eduardo Biscayart. In addition, Sports Emmy winner and renowned soccer expert Miguel Gurwitz and Emmy-nominee Ana Jurka will anchor the pre/post studio coverage leading in-depth analysis and updates on each matchday.
To complement match coverage, Telemundo Deportes will present a pre-game special for all matches airing on Telemundo and Universo, featuring in-venue coverage, analysis and interviews focused on CONCACAF as well as the latest news around qualifiers taking place around the world. There will also be segments and special reports around Qatar, the culture, venues and how the host country prepares for the big tournament. In addition, Rumbo al Mundial: Objetivo Qatar, that brings together the latest news, analysis and highlights, will air at the end of each matchday to recap the daily action.
Top-ranked CONCACAF nations Mexico, USA, Costa Rica, Honduras and Jamaica join Canada, El Salvador and Panama in the octagonal where each nation will play each other home and away during FIFA Match Windows of September, October and November 2021, and January and March 2022, with each team playing 14 matches. At the end of the Final Round, the top three finishing teams will qualify directly to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The fourth-placed team will advance to a FIFA Intercontinental Playoff, scheduled to be played in June 2022.
