SPL to continue on Sky and ESPN in the UK.

Sky Sports and ESPN UK will stick to showing the Scottish Premier League (SPL) for at least the next 5 seasons. With Rangers being relegated to the Third Division, there was some question as to two broadcaster’s commitment to the league. The SPL clubs will be “hit” by about $27mil. as far as Sky is concerned as the new deal has been quoted at $98mil. over the 5-year period compared to the $125mil. of the previous deal signed last season. ESPN’s numbers have not been published.

This coming season, ESPN will show 30 SPL matches plus 10 Rangers matches. Sky will also cover 30 SPL matches and 5 involving Rangers in the Third Division.
